LUKE AND RUSTY’S RODEO SHOW FT NEWTON DUNBAR

Luke and Rusty’s Rodeo Show had a special visitor recently, in the form of former Four Aces club owner Newton Dunbar.

Dunbar ran the seminal reggae, soul club in Dalston – which later became known as Labrynth – for 33 years. The East End venue became home to many influential black musicians such as JIMMY CLIFF, BOB MARLEY and PERCY SLEDGE. It also hosted gigs for the likes of THE SLITS and SEX PISTOLS.

You can listen to the interview along with the rest of the show below. Music throughout is a mixture of psych, soul, reggae and rockabilly.

BLUR – UNDER THE WESTWAY


BLUR debuted new material over the weekend ahead of their BRITs appearance this week. The group will collect the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Under The Westway was performed live at a War Child charity gig and it’s signature, heartfelt Blur, encompassing the essence of the seminal Britpop band.

London lads Zulu recently signed to London-based label Stroll On Records and March 5th sees these old-school punks drop their EP on cassette.

A SKY JET BLACK – I WANNA BE ADORED

Austin, TX-based band A SKY JET BLACK have released this Gothic cover of the Stone Roses classic I Wanna Be Adored.

The track will be on their Japanese Moon LP which is due out on tape
and vinyl this Spring. In the mean time digital downloads of all of

EAGULLS – LIVE AT THE BARFLY, CAMDEN


Leeds based punk band EAGULLS played live at the Barfly in Camden for HMV’s Next Big Thing gig earlier this month and you can watch them perform in the video above.

CHROMATICS – INTO THE BLACK


CHROMATICS
 have released this re-working of the NEIL YOUNG classic Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black).

The mean sounding guitars of the original are gone and this version has a more sombre tone but it’s an interesting cover.

The track will be on their forthcoming Kill For Love LP which due out on Valentine’s Day. Watch the video above.
