Australian punks STEP-PANTHER today offer their first output since last November’s eponymous debut album, in the shape of new single Maybe Later. A rich vein of sarcastic apathy running through the lyrics – “I’ve got external issues/boo-hoo, where’s my tissues?” – compliments the raw, Thin Lizzy-esque riffs perfectly, and the simple yet effective lo-fi majesty of the track, which recalls Pavement and Dinosaur Jr all at once, goes some way towards justifying their ranking as one of NME’s Best 100 New Bands Of 2012.
